Dear Ms Barkalaia,

I am contacting you on behalf of the UNDP where, as part of the UN Joint Programme for Gender Equality, we are currently conducting a study of the Care Economy in Georgia - primarily from the vantage point of Recognizing, Reducing and Redistributing unpaid domestic work through the provision of care at policy and service-delivery levels, and by greater labour market inclusion. Currently, we have engaged an international expert, Jana Valkova, to conduct a first policy study to identify the most relevant and achievable entry points to start tackling this issue.

I would like to ask you if you would be able to refer us to a colleague from the Ministry who would be able to provide us with informative insights regarding women’s access to the labour market and current and possible future promotion policy measures.

Specific topics of interest are:

-          Analyses and prospective studies of labour market participation, including a discussion on what data are available and what gaps exist

-          Simulations / evaluations of policy proposals of active labour market policies or individual active LM measures, if they exist

I apologize for the short notice, our researcher is here only this week with some time availability on Friday, November 29th. However it would also be possible to connect remotely or send topics of interest via email at some later stage.

I should also mention that we are already meeting with Tea Gvaramadze, Head of Social Protection Division, as well as with representatives of the Social Service Agency. However, the more specific labour market perspective would still be very appreciated.

With kind regards,

Benedikt Hosek
