FES series of webinars: Responding to Covid-19: Social and Economic Policies in the South Caucasus

South Caucasian countries have been hit by the Covid-19 at different scales, however the lockdowns introduced to stop the spread of the virus are painful for any economy. Depending on what balance the governments strike between epidemic management and economic restrictions will depend the severity of the current health crises or the upcoming economic one. No matter all the differences, all South Caucasian governments have to play this balancing game and their responses have so far varied.
In order to tackle these issues Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung South Caucasus takes an initiative to organize series of ZOOM webinars “Responding to Covid-19: Social and Economic Policies in the South Caucasus” to discuss the economic and social measures and debate their effects with the experts from South Caucasus region.

The first meeting will be focusing on “Economies in disarray: What to expect from Corona-crisis?”
Time: May 15, 2020 18:00 in Baku, Tbilisi, Yerevan

-Where do the governments stand between the need of lockdown and need to run the economy?
-What are the social support mechanisms implemented in each South Caucasus countries ?
-How the lockdown affects employment, what loopholes of labor rights has the lockdown revealed?
-What are the predictions regarding the Post-Covid19 economy of South Caucasus Countries? Austerity measures VS expanding social programs
