Europe Day 2020 marks the 70th anniversary of the birth of the European idea. On this day in 1950, French Foreign Minister, Robert Schuman unveiled his proposal to create a European Coal and Steel Community, the ancestor of what we now know as the European Union.
“Europe will not be made all at once, or according to a single plan. It will be built through concrete achievements which first create de facto solidarity” he said.
It is in this spirit that the European Training Foundation works to support the European Union and its partner countries in improving opportunities and life chances for their citizens through the development of education, training and employment.
As the European Union leads a global response to the corona virus pandemic, the ETF is supporting the countries where it works in coping with the impact of COVID-19 on their education and training systems and labour markets. The ETF is gathering intelligence, sharing knowledge and good practice and supporting solutions to the specific challenges of keeping learning going in lockdown.
