Dear participant in the RFSD 2019 in Geneva,
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), is pleased to invite you to
the Regional Consultation on the Plan of Action to Integrate Volunteering into the 2030 Agenda, which will take place on:
21 March 2019
09:30 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.
International Conference Centre Geneva (CICG), Switzerland
The Consultation will be a pre-event of the Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (RFSD), at the same venue. It will be a unique opportunity to exchange expertise
and knowledge, discuss volunteers contribution to the achievement of the SDGs and identify ways to better integrate volunteerism into the 2030 Agenda.
More details about the event are available in the attached concept note and preliminary agenda.
The Plan of Action is a framework developed by UN Member States to help governments, UN agencies, Volunteer Involving Organizations, civil society organizations,
academia and the private sector to:
-
Strengthen people’s ownership of the 2030 Agenda;
-
Systematically integrate volunteering in national strategies and policies;
-
Measure the impact of volunteering.
The Regional Consultation on the Plan of Action to Integrate Volunteering into the 2030 Agenda in Europe will engage Plan of Action stakeholders in highlighting
regional perspectives on volunteerism, in accordance with the 2019 theme of the High-Level Political Forum “Empowering people and ensuring inclusiveness and equality”. Key findings from the Regional Synthesis Report on Volunteering in the UNECE region will
be presented and discussed with participants during the event.
You can register your participation in the pre-event by simply replying to this email.
