To facilitate environmental surveillance of polio in Georgia A) Objective: to support the National Laboratory for Polio Control of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Public Health in polio surveillance; Wastewater sampling in various regions of Georgia, presumably in high-risk settlements, and laboratory testing to detect and identify polio and other enteroviruses; C) expected results: Antigenic and genetic studies of isolated polio viruses may be important for developing further WHO recommendations, determining the origin of isolated polioviruses, and establishing the circulation pattern of polioviruses and other enteroviruses in Georgia.
