Introduction of enterovirus surveillance in Georgia (A) Objective: to provide additional opportunities for poliovirus surveillance by identifying and typing enteroviruses derived from clinical sources, obtaining information on circulating enteroviruses and monitoring their circulating trends; Increasing capacity for poliovirus import, identifying poliovirus-derived vaccines, and timely detection of enterovirus-related epidemics. B) Ways to implement the project: Examination of meningitis and meningoencephalitis in modern clinics in Tbilisi, Batumi, Zugdidi and Kutaisi. C) Expected results: Identify, develop and establish a sustainable routine epidemiological surveillance system for enteroviruses.
