Strengthening detection, response and prevention of cases of diarrhoeal diseases and epidemics in Georgia


A) Objective: to strengthen detection, response and anti-epidemic action in cases of acute diarrhea and outbreaks by strengthening epidemiological and laboratory activities, as well as to improve cooperation between laboratories, epidemiological services and the NFA through the implementation of the project. Patients for disease detection, response, analysis and prevention, training of project personnel (laboratory staff, clinicians, epidemiologists) by DCJEC specialists in accordance with the SOP, Fc analysis of bacterial samples for bacteriological etiology; and determination of the PFGE profile; Improvement of laboratory test quality control, Implementation of EQA in accordance with the relevant SOP; Monitoring of laboratories and support bases; Creation of a database, analysis and use of the results for further activities. C) Expected results: improvement of isolated cases of diarrhoeal diseases and epidemics, epidemiology, analysis, response measures; The bacteriological etiological structure and distribution of causes of diarrhoeal diseases will be studied; The PFGE profile and antibiotic resistance of isolated cultures will be determined; Cooperation between the NCDC and the NFA will be strengthened through the active implementation of joint research on food and beverage-related diseases and outbreaks.
