Maintaining the resilience of the influenza surveillance network and responding to seasonal/pandemic influenza by national health authorities outside the United States The aim of the project is to strengthen the influenza surveillance system in Georgia through the introduction and readiness of a laboratory base; to provide a laboratory base that can detect human infection with various influenza viruses. Ways to implement the project: 1. The project is based on epidemiological surveillance and virological research at influenza bases located in different cities of the country (Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi, Akhaltsikhe and Zugdidi). Outpatient cases of influenza (OR) and severe acute respiratory diseases (SARS) are recorded and virologically monitored at the bases. 3. The medical institutions involved in the study acted in accordance with pre-established protocols and rules.
