With reference to your letter #PRC-PREF35FR-BC-CTX of June 8, 2020 we would like to kindly provide you with requested information regarding kidney transplantation services, within the competence of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia:

Under the state program, kidney transplantation services are provided in the following medical institutions: (1) JSC, Al. Tsulukidze National Center for Urology; (2) JSC, K. Eristavi National Center of Experimental and Clinical Surgery; (3) Ltd. "High Technology Center, University Clinic"; (4) Ltd. High Technology Hospital Medcenter (Batumi).

Any citizen of Georgia suffering from terminal kidney failure can receive service covered by “Dialysis and kidney transplantation” state program, which includes kidney transplant operation (only from living-donor) and immunosuppressive drugs. Kidney transplant operation value should not exceed 20 000 GEL however the beneficiaries can receive immunosuppressive drugs defined by the state program without any charge (without co-payment).

Pharmaceutical products (LANSOPRAZOLE 15 mg; ATORVASTATINE 10 mg; CHOLECALCIFEROL; PROGRAF; CELLCEPT; PREDNISONE; BISOPROLOL; COVERAM 5/10; LACTULOSE BIPHAR) except EUPHUTOSE are registered in Georgian pharmaceutical market with different trade names.

According to the Article 11¹³ (c) of the Law of Georgia on Drugs and Pharmaceutical Activities, pharmaceutical product with evasion of authorization modes for Georgian market may be imported for individual needs of natural person.

Procedure and amount (10 commercial packages) of unregistered medicines of 2nd and 3rd group to be imported for individual needs is defined by the Order N01-32 / N of the Minister of Labor, Health and Social Affairs of Georgia.

If the amount of medicine to be imported exceeds 10 commercial packages, the prescribed quantity of medicines shall be imported into the country on the basis of the relevant medical documentation submitted to the LEPL Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities.
