მაიკო, გიგზავნით
As part of the recommendations of the Global Polio Eradication Strategy, since 2015, Georgia has been using two types of vaccines:
1. Inactivated Polio in combination with other antigens  Hexa (DPaT+HepB+Hib+IPV) , for vaccination of infants aged 2,3,4 months;
2. Oral Polio vaccine (OPV) for revaccination at the age of 18 months and 5 years.
Since June 2020, the vaccination schedule has been changed, the oral polio vaccine has been withdrawn, and currently, we use only the inactivated Polio vaccine in combinations with other antigens   -   Hexa (DPaT+HepB+Hib+IPV)   for vaccination and  Tetra (DTaP/P) for revaccination. Both vaccines are combined vaccines.

Subject: Question on Polio Vaccine

Hello Maia,

I hope you are doing well and staying safe and healthy.

I had a quick question about vaccinations in Georgia, particularly the polio vaccine.  My understanding is that there are two methods of administering the vaccine - either as a single dose or combined with other vaccines.  Which method does Georgia currently use?  I saw an article that Georgia intends to switch to the combined method this year - is that true?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Best,
