Dear Tamar,

I would like to inform you that the WHO mission on mental health will be postponed – the expert cannot travel due to COVID-19 related issues.

But the DRG mission is still on the agenda.

No major meetings and visits to be organized, but we need a small group of key persons involved, that the expert could work with.

Thank you,

Silviu

Dear Silviu

Many thanks! This is completely acceptable. Please kindly make sure that the consultants are in compliance with most recent travel requirements. CPR test on COVID-19 or 14 days mandatory quarantine is required for all travelers coming from China, South Korea, Iran, Italy, Spain, France, Germany and Austria.

Should you have any questions please let me know.

Dear Tamar,

As previously discussed, we hope to organize a rapid assessment mission on COVID-19 to Abkhazia. Most probably it will take place next week.

We would like to include in the mission the consultant on hospital readiness working currently in Georgia.

This means we’ll interrupt his work for 2 days, but we’ll try to extend his stay in the country with a similar number of days, so that he finalizes all the planned work.

Hope this is acceptable to the ministry.

Please confirm.

Thank you and best regards,

Silviu

Dear Tamar,

I am contacting you again in relation with hospital readiness for COVID-19.

Our Regional office is suggesting to deploy to Georgia a consultant on hospital readiness.

The consultant is preliminary scheduled to come in a missions on 9-20 March 2020. The main purpose of that mission will be to assess readiness and preparedness level of the 4 designated hospitals for COVID-19 response. The consultant will need to visit each hospital for two-day assessments, in line with the hospital readiness checklist I’ve shared with you before.

According to our Regional Office, the ministry’s representative, Marina Baidauri attended the meeting on Implementation of the Core Components of Infection Prevention and Control Programmes at National and Area Levels in Copenhagen on 25-26 Feb, and she could also participate in site visits. Our staff might also join the mission, when needed.

The consultant could also provide short refresher trainings during the site visits on IPC topics, as well as address any other related issues.

Could you please let me know, by Tuesday 3 March at the latest, whether such a mission is welcomed by the ministry and WHO consultant and staff will be granted access to the 4 designated hospitals during the mission.

As soon as I get your confirmation we’ll start preparations for the mission and will update you regularly.

Thank you and best regards,

Silviu
