Dear Tamar,

We are deeply concerned by the evolving situation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the human tragedy surrounding it. Given growing health considerations related to the virus, and increasing uncertainties relating to travel and logistics, the Management of the World Bank Group has strongly recommended all teams to consider postponing large-scale events (30+ participants from multiple locations). Therefore, we decided to postpone our events in Azerbaijan and Georgia.

Once the Coronavirus issue is resolved, we would like to organize these two events again (hopefully in May or June).  In the meantime, our health team including our manager Tania Dmytraczenko is planning to visit Georgia and Azerbaijan for the last week of March . This trip will also require a clearance from the World Bank safety team, however, before asking this clearance, I am wondering whether timing is good for the ministry and you have any concern about our visit because of the coronavirus issue. Please let me know.

Best,

Volkan

Dear Tamar,

Thanks a lot for clarifying these questions. I am glad to hear that Madam Minister is available for opening remarks. We will make the arrangements with the Rooms Hotel, and keep you posted with other developments on our side. Once we have the list from Maia, I can coordinate invitations.

Best,

Volkan

Dear Tamar,

I hope this email finds you well!

Attached is the latest version of our event agenda on Thursday March 19, 2020. Since our last email exchange, a few other speakers are confirmed their participation including Adolfo Rubinstein, the former Minister of Health of Argentina.

I have a few quick questions regarding this event as well as other works:

  1. Is Madam Minister available to deliver opening remarks in the event?
  2. Are you available talk about the current issues and Ministry’s plans to address these issues in the first session/
  3. Are you available to stay until the end of the event and moderate the last session?
  4. Which national local stakeholders (both public and private) should we invite this event?
  5. We heard very good things about the Rooms Hotel. Is the Rooms Hotel good for this event? Do you have another preference?
  6. We have also sent the attached invitation to Madam Minister join us in Baku as speaker. Do you know if she is available to come to Baku on March 17?
  7. Do you have any findings on your preliminary costing work available? If so, would it be possible to share it with our colleague Andreas Seiter, so that he can tailor some of his presentation accordingly.

We have already issued a contract for Navneet to work with your team on costing. Once we arrange his travel,  I will let you know.

Best,

Volkan
