Subject: Briefing on COVID-19 for Ambassadors and Heads of development agencies
Dear Tamar,
The UN Resident Coordinator and our office gets and increased number of requests from embassies and development agencies for a briefing on COVID-19.
We think it would be the best to organize such a briefing together with the ministry and NCDC.
Our office and UN resident Coordinator’s office could take care of any logistics, if needed, but probably they will be minimal.
As far as I know such briefings have been organized in other countries and also our Regional Office organized recently a briefing for all the ambassadors in Copenhagen.
We have materials available and it should not be a big problem.
They might, however, raise issues related to access of their children to international schools and of their staff and dependents to relevant health services.
Please let me know what you think about this and if we go for it, we can discuss the details.
Also what would be the best time for that – any possibility to do it by the end of this week? I understand this might be too challenging, but that’s what some of the ambassadors asked for…
Alternatively we can provide briefing to them from WHO side alone, but as I said it is not the preferred scenario.
Thank you,
Silviu
