Message sent on behalf of Mr Cris Scotter

Dear National Counterpart

We are writing to make you aware of activity being undertaken by the WHO secretariat to facilitate the reporting on implementation of WHA resolutions on Health Workforce to the 144th Executive Board (January 2019) and the 72nd World Health Assembly (May 2019). The reporting covers the 3rd round of National Reports on resolution WHA63.16 (the WHO Global Code of Practice on the International Recruitment of Health Personnel – “the Code”.

Article 7 of the Code  encourages Member States to designate a National Authority  to exchange information on the international recruitment of health personnel and on Code implementation.

In June 2018,  WHO secretariat send a Circular Letter (attached) to all Member States requesting their cooperation in confirmation or designation their National Authority (DNA) for reporting under the Code, as specified in the resolution.

Following the receipt of this information, the WHO Secretariat will contact the DNA with the National Reporting Instrument 2018 and orient them on the reporting process. The designated national authority (DNA) should be authorized to communicate directly or, as provided by national law or regulations, with designated national authorities of other Member States and with the WHO Secretariat.

However we are contacting you to request your assistance as a national counterpart in facilitating the speedy identification of the DNA for your country and also to notify the WHO secretariat of the nominee if you have not already done so.  This action will greatly assist the WHO Regional Office for Europe in preparing a timely and complete picture as to the state of implementation the Code in our region.

Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
