Subject: Global Health Diplomacy course. Brussels 13th - 15th November 2018
Importance: High
Dear National Counterparts,
WHO 3-day Training course for EU-EEA policy makers in Global Health Diplomacy
Brussels, 13th – 15th November 2018
I am writing to inform you that the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe plans to hold the above-mentioned training course kindly hosted by the Government of Belgium.
The course is part of an initiative aiming to build capacity in the WHO member countries on global health diplomacy. The overall objective of the course is to bring together diplomatic and health professionals to understand their common interests in health as a foreign policy issue. The course is organized jointly by the WHO Regional Office for Europe, the Global Health Programme at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
The training is being offered to interested EU /EEA countries and we recommend that it is attended by three senior policy makers from various ministries, ideally one each from Ministry of health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and perhaps ministry of education or social affairs or environment to ensure intersectoral discussions.
The working language and all course materials will be made available prior to the course, which will be English.
Since the number of attendees should be limited to 30 participants, in order to ensure that the size of the training remains manageable, we encourage you to send an expression of interest by 30th July 2018 indicating, where possible, how many participants will attend from your country.
Kindly note that there is no course fee for this course, but participants are expected to cover the costs of their own travel and accommodation in Brussels.
Further details such as venue, hotels and the programme of the course will be sent at a later stage.
Thank you for your attention in this matter, and I look forward to your replies
Kind regards,
Lucianne
